How rental-only differs from guided tours

We rent machines for trail-pass use to riders with documented prior experience. This is a different product from our guided tours: you ride independently on the public trail system without a guide, and you’re responsible for navigation, fuel management, and self-rescue if you get stuck. Rentals make sense for experienced riders who want flexibility on their own schedule and route choice. They don’t make sense for first-timers, who get more value from a guided tour where instruction, route selection, and rescue are all included.

Verification and limits

Rental verification requires either a guided tour with us in the past two seasons, or documentation of equivalent experience from another operator (receipt, photo, or signed letter from the other guide). We don’t accept self-attestation alone — this is for the rider’s safety as much as ours. Rental hours are limited to daylight only, machines must return with at least 1/4 fuel, and we charge for damage caused by misuse (defined in the rental agreement). We don’t rent in conditions where the trail system has avalanche concerns or where forecasts suggest visibility might drop below safe operational levels.
