Who this tour is for
The extreme tour is genuinely for advanced riders. We expect prior experience with sidehill riding, deep powder, tree skiing on a sled, and recovery from getting stuck without guide intervention. If you have done backcountry tours with other operators in Wyoming, Montana, or Alaska and felt comfortable with technical terrain, this is the closest equivalent in Colorado. If you have only ridden groomed trails before, our backcountry tour is a better stepping stone before booking the extreme.
Terrain and route specifics
The extreme tour leaves the trail system within ten minutes of departure and stays off-trail for most of the ride. Routes vary based on snow conditions and avalanche assessments, but typically include a mix of open meadow climbs, treed sidehill traverses, and alpine bowl descents. Guides ride strong machines (current model 850cc-class with track lengths suited to deep powder) and we expect riders to keep up without holding the group. If your pace doesn’t match the guide’s, we redirect to the standard backcountry route to ensure everyone gets home safely.
